  1. 5 Aqua Vitae

From the recording Believing Mirrors

A very personal account of a vision I had once that a daughter would show up in my life, a mysterious, enigmatic, lovely creature – part human, part sea-goddess. It could have happened, it almost happened – but she never quite made it. Thus, Aqua Vitae is dedicated to my sweet Daughter that Almost Was.

Lyrics

Aqua Vitae

Welcome Brittany from inside the sea
Smiling wild, emerald eyes
From Atlantis’ shore she arrives once more
Checking in with terrestrial ties

Aqua vitae, water of life
Aqua vitae
Someday she will be born
Out of the Aqua vitae, water of life
Aqua vitae someday she’ll be reborn…

…out of Aquarius, touching down for a while
Beaming in from Blue Paradise
She’s a pretty secret with a salty smile
A Mona Lisa child
Hiding just off the edge of life
Just this side of the Other Side

Aqua vitae, water of life, sweet Brittany
Aqua vitae
Someday she will be born
Out of the Aqua vitae, water of life, dear Brittany
Aqua vitae any day she will come…

Right out of the Aqua Vitae
Little One come, see the children play
Aqua Vitae
Aqua vitae
Little One’s gonna be one of them someday
Any day now

I wander down to the shrine near the oceanside
By the Holy Waterfall
There she pulls me under on a rising tide
I delight in Britannia’s call
All past-present-future is the same, you see…
Here is a fortune I can tell
Soon arriving, alive, O delicious mystery
Soon I shall know her Water well
Sail on Little One, sail on

Aqua vitae, water of life, sweet Brittany
Aqua vitae
Someday she will be born
Out of the Aqua vitae, water of life
Hail Britannia
Aqua vitae someday she will come

Right out of the Aqua Vitae
Aqua Vitae
Welcome Brittany from inside the sea
With the wild emerald eyes…

…to the Daughter that Almost Was
