Clarinet was an instrument I loved-to-hate until I discovered the brilliant ‘Clarinet Concerto’ by modern-day composer Lowell Liebermann. Inspired by his concerto, I sought to write music evoking the heartbreak of a lonely little boy who has just lost his dog – essentially his best friend - for which there is no replacement.
