From the recording Passion Play

Be This True Love...The soundstage here might remind one of Enya or Loreena McKennitt. A lilting, 7/4 Middle-Eastern rhythmic motif underscoring a Gaelic, hymnlike quality, reminiscent of the 18th century folk ballad ’Fare Thee Well’. The middle section and ending borrow from a back-page of Mussorgsky’s "Pictures At an Exhibition".
Love songs like this one don’t come to me but once in a lifetime. It was written for my Soul Mate, my Beloved. We danced to it at our wedding. It took us more than half our lifetimes to figure out that it was “Us All Along”. A magical but true story.

Lyrics

Be This True Love

‘cross winded moors
where the heather never ends
past trials of time
ringing forever friends
two souls as one
breathing their first breath
close-together skins…
children, in their eyes
be this true love
may this be passion
let the passion play
be this true love

sweet sacred gifts
within and without
Prince and Princess
past the castles of doubt
shall sail their way
outside the mad fields
inside a mystic touch
wrapped around themselves
be this true love
is this the real thing?
as a wishing is prayer
be this true love

aurora borealis
shine on you crazy curtain
shine on

through the lonely hearts
of these long-silent hills
our brave kindred sparks
was it Fate, or was it Will?
it’s been so long
at last remembered
what this blessing was
and is still to be
be this true love
be ours real passion
and let the passion play
be this true love

aurora borealis
shine on you crazy curtain
shine on
behold the emerald princess
shine on, shine on…
